Why Should You Choose Our Muskoka Chairs?

Are you thinking about buying from us, or comparing us to your local superstore? Here’s nine reasons you’ll never regret buying from Decor Americana.

Take me back to the adirondack chairs

Adirondack Chair

1) We Use Naturally Weatherproof Wood, a Rarity in the Market
Our adirondacks are constructed from 100% premium grade weatherproof Brazilian Cherry. Cheaper woods found at many superstores for $250 will break during or after the first season outdoors, especially the seat slats. Look closely at the display models, many are already starting to show signs of splinters and cracks. Many of the rocking chairs at these stores are also notorious for developing mold problems overtime, a concern for many parents.

2) Our Chairs are Engineered for the Outdoors, not for the Store Shelf
Our wood has been 100% kiln-dried, our hardware is exterior grade, glue is non-water soluble, slats are cut to shape as opposed to being bent as is the case in mass market chairs, and all construction is mortise and tenon.

3) Size Does Matter
We encourage our customers to compare our dimensions to other adirondack chairs at superstores on the market. You will find they have been scaled down to save on wood, paint, shipping and hardware costs. A properly designed adirondack chair has been built with the right geometry to fit real adults. Balance point, seat height and depth, arm and seat width, are all important components of a comfortable chair that will last you a lifetime.

4) Contours, Contours, Contours
When customers sit in our chairs, they almost always remark that the chairs are “soft.” We pay extra attention to designing soft, round edges on our arms and seat backs. We contour the seat itself, and the seat back on most of our chairs. Contours are very rare on most chairs on the market today. Don’t miss this important detail.

5) Wide Seats for Long Lasting Comfort
A wide seat, at the proper height, is crucial to comfort. You’ve probably sat in plenty of chairs that weren’t wide enough. The arms were too tight, or your legs couldn’t rest comfortably. We have spent years developing the best proportions in our chairs so you will be able to rest for hours and hours comfortably. We are not responsible for entire Saturday afternoons lost in our adirondack chairs.

6) We’re No Lightweights
We recommend that you check the weight of other adirondack chairs you’re considering, and see if they are similar to ours. Most are far lighter (if they even list the weight, which many do not for a reason). Our chairs weigh over 75 pounds- virtually unheard of anywhere else on the market. Good quality furniture is heavy for a reason. Don’t make the mistake of buying inferior, lightweight adirondacks that won’t hold up over time.

7) Truly Weatherproof Paint
Our painted styles use a super strong marine based polyurethane paint finish. They are among the finest in the industry because of our detail-oriented processes of hand-sanding, hand-polishing and our superior finishing material; UV-blocked catalyzed poyurethane.

8) The Only Thing We’re Hiding is our Hardware
Our slats are mortised into the side rails – a very expensive process that makes all the difference in appearance, durability, and comfort. No one wants to sit on or be scratched by hot, sharp screw heads.

9) Beautifully Integrated Footrest
We’ve spent years designing a footrest that is integrated with the chair perfectly, as though they were cut from one shape. The height and angles match, forming a perfect, seamless curve under your legs.
