What makes this swing so fine?

In the photos shown here, you will notice some of the important features of this swing, which set it apart from others on the market:

* Constructed from 52 pounds (24kg) of 100% premium grade weatherproof Brazilian Cherry. Cheaper woods rot and break, especially the seat slats and arms. Compare our weight and wood with any other on the market.
* Engineered for outdoor use at every step: the wood has been 100% kiln-dried, all hardware is exterior grade, glue is non-water soluble, slats are cut to shape; not bent, and all construction is mortise and tenon.
* Quality hardware included – hardware is included to hang this swing from most locations and allow you to change the seat angle and height to suit your own location and comfort. For locations requiring extremely long chains, you can purchase extension chain at any premium hardware store.
* Full adult size – compare our dimensions to many on the market which have been scaled down to meet price points.
* Thick posts, slats and arms – this contributes of durability.
* Wide curved arms with curved edges – rare among lesser swings.
* Wide contoured seat with durable curved slats – a wide seat at the proper height is crucial to comfort.
* Strong side cap covers side view of seat slats and adds to swing strength

Durability is key for a swing like this – get a swing that will last, not one that will need replacement every few seasons – that is the value of Brazilian Cherry. Comparing this swing with others on the market

Most swings sold today are NOT weatherproof – they are instead made of pine, oak, ash, hickory, or other woods that must remain finished in order not to rot. Those finishes cannot withstand outdoor conditions indefinitely, and so most porch swings have a limited lifespan on an outside porch, and must be protected from rain and sunlight. Even if you buy a swing from a high end store or catalog, you are almost always getting a softwood and/or interior wood that has simply been finished with an “outdoor” paint. Don’t do it. Paints wear off, flake off, get chipped, or just don’t hold up – and once that paint or oil is gone, the swing will rot unless it is made from a truly weatherproof wood. That means your swing will look bad quickly, and it means it could collapse when you are in it. That’s why we only sell swings and porch rockers made from all-weather Brazilian Cherry.

Why is this swing better than Cedar?

Other than those made of premium teak or other dense, oil-rich tropical woods, virtually no porch swings available today can be left unprotected in the sun and rain. Some swings are made from cedar, however beware: cedar is a softwood, not a hardwood, and easily breaks. Cedar usually has knots, and this is where the breaks usually occur. Cedar dries out over time and becomes brittle. While it is an outdoor wood, cedar is inferior to teak and brazilian cherry. If you have any cedar, hold it up next to this swing after you’ve purchased it. You won’t believe the difference. We are glad to report, however, that cedar is excellent in the fireplace. When burning, cedar has a wonderful aroma and crackles nicely. Put this swing on your porch, and your cedar swing in the fireplace.

Life is too short to let a bad swing run you down.
